I got my hair did
Outfitted with strands of purple, black, and blue tinsel
That glitters in the light
I feel like a true fairy

Waking up to a pink sky.

Being held through your pain
And the difference it makes

The apartment is packed up
There’s left-over Thai in the fridge and
Deep fried ice cream in the freezer
And you’ve watched Come From Away
And as the sky explodes into colored sparkles
And the world celebrates the ticking of the clock into the new year
You walk along the river
On one of those magic Manhattan-y nights
And you say out loud
Dear universe
For being
My soul
For love
For energy
For strength
For knowledge
For expression
For sweeping me off my feet
Thank you, thank you, thank you ​

I cried when
The band played “auld lang syne” during walkout
Because I remembered how a year ago
I was sad and depleted 
And today, a year later
I am happy
And the new year is full of possibility

So much to celebrate

When I discovered the existence of
Winter blossoms
At first you think, has it been that warm?
But a quick google lets you know that
Yes, winter blossoms are a thing
They even bloom in the snow!
The soft petals seems incongruous with the cold
But here we are
Against all odds

The luxury of time to write
The loveliness of chili on a chilly afternoon
The joy of laughing with friends
Ending the day with a giant bowl of popcorn
And a mug of hot chocolate
