Where the Angels Fall
The new Cat Empire album is glorious
I played it through my morning chores
And it made me dance
I played it through my morning chores
And it made me dance

United Planet Half
I ran the half
It was hard
The best part was spending the rest of the afternoon prostrate on the couch watching musicals and devouring a burger and fries and a chocolate shake and not feeling even a little bit guilty!

Puppy Love
Snuggling with my little floof
His upside down head
His happy tail
The way he nuzzles into my lap
The same he did when he was a tiny puppy

Fall Morning
What is this feeling?!
My hands were actually cold when I was running
What is this chill in the air?!

Want to Come for a Walk?
How lovely it is to have friends around the corner
Chores are so much nicer when finished up with
Conversation and cookies from the old school Italian bakery!

dear London
Oh London
You gorgeous magical lovely wonderful creature
I don’t want to go home
I want to keep wandering the streets
And re-discovering all your secrets
I promise to be back

I’d never much understood
The restorative properties of
“The English Seaside”
That you read about in books
And see in movies
But after a few days in Cornwall
I totally get it
Today, first stop, St Ives
A pilgrimage of sorts
I expected a little countryside village
But it’s on the coast
A seaside town populated by beach going tourists
We stopped for a truly delicious coffee and hot chocolate in a narrow side street cafe
Tourists and locals, families and older folks, Hipster couples
And a plethora of puppies
We wandered the streets
And popped into the pretty stores
Full of local glassware and pottery
Beachside paraphernalia
And paintings of the view
We had a delightful seaside picnic
Sitting on a little wall down from the walkway
And then we drove past Penzance
(Tarantara!)
To the Minack Theatre
Oh what a place!
The way Rowena Cade carved the seats into the very rock and
Hauled bags of sand from the beach
To build her theatre on the cliff
Imagining the magical and terrifying Tempest that was performed there almost 100 years ago
What was it like to walk down those steep steps guided by lamps powered by car batteries?!
And the view!
Every time I looked up it took my breath away
The sheerness of it
The grandness of it
The drama of it!
And then home for dinner
A delicious seafood stew
Being made to feel so special in the way only your aunty who has known you forever and practically raised you can

It has been so restorative to be back in the UK
It has awakened parts of me I thought were long gone
My writing voice is back and
I want to write again
After years of feeling like that part of me had vanished
I feel a lightness of spirit
Like things are possible
(Despite the state of the world)
I want to read all the books!
And watch all the movies (specifically musical ones)!
I want to learn all the things!
I want to sing and dance and trip the light fantastic!
And after nearly a decade of exhausting trauma
Courtesy of The Big C followed by the other big C
Well, I didn’t know that lightness was entirely possible
And I am thankful thankful thankful to be here
Tonight I can hear the sea outside my window
I want to huff that sea air so it fills my lungs so deep I can take it with me back to New York
And I breathe
And whisper thank you to the wind
That I am here
I am here
I am here.
