My friend inspired a meditation on flight
Imagine you’re told you can fly
And you’re given clearance on the runway
And all you have to do
Is take a breath
And take a few steps
And you’re off
Up and away
Whooooosh

But what if you’re so used to feeling tethered
What if you have been grounded for so long
You’d almost stopped thinking about flight
You’ve looked at the sky and thought
That isn’t for me anymore
That possibility was never mine

But now
The idea of uninhibited flight
Makes your heart catch in your throat
I can fly
You can fly
