Singin' in the Rain
The rain was pouring down
But I was determined to get the miles in
It was soggy
But the way the air smelled!
The way the bark on the trees glowed!
The green of the grass and the leaves!
I stumbled across a community garden
And I traced its circular path
And huffed in the delicious scents of the herbs and flowers and earth
And occasionally the rain would hold off for just a moment
And it would feel steamy
And the rain would start again and it almost felt amazing
And sometimes I would pass another runner
And we would grin at each other
Look at us out here! Nothing can stop us now!
And I ran 10km /6.2 miles
And I felt joyous.

My friend inspired a meditation on flight
Imagine you’re told you can fly
And you’re given clearance on the runway
And all you have to do
Is take a breath
And take a few steps
And you’re off
Up and away

But what if you’re so used to feeling tethered
What if you have been grounded for so long
You’d almost stopped thinking about flight
You’ve looked at the sky and thought
